Louvre Abu Dhabi åbnede i november 2017 for at fortælle historier om verden gennem dens permanente og midlertidige udstillinger. Med over 7900 kvm udstillingsareal huser denne 'museumsby" kunstværker og artefakter fra den forhistoriske til den moderne tidsalder, på tværs af kulturer og kontinenter.
Beliggende i Kulturdistriktet i Abu Dhabi på Saadiyat-øen er museets design inspireret af de omkringliggende landskaber og kombinerer beton, vand og lys på den mest magiske måde. Som et arkitektonisk vidunder i sig selv blev museet udformet som en ’svævende kuppel af lys og skygge’, af den berømte arkitekt Jean Nouvel. Museets 55 bygninger er forbundet af den utrolige kuppel, der dannes af 7850 stålstjerner, og mens solen passerer over, filtreres dens lys og skaber en fortryllende og fængslende effekt.
Opdelt i fire fløje huser museet tolv permanente tematiserede gallerier. Louvre Abu Dhabi præsenterer menneskehedens kronologiske historie på tværs af de østlige og vestlige verdener, da det har til formål at forene historier om menneskelig kreativitet mellem kulturer. Museet er hjem for mange midlertidige i udstillinger i verdensklasse, samt et Børnemuseum, hvor børn bliver inspireret til at lære om kunst gennem aktiviteter og sjov.
Museet har to caféer, samt en fin restaurant og en butik, som er det perfekte sted at finde en gave eller souvenir fra dit besøg. Omgivet af vand er museet tilgængeligt fra land og hav. Beliggende lige over en time fra Dubai i bil, er Louvre Abu Dhabi et must-see for alle i nærheden!

“Die Ausschreibung „Moschee und Heritage Village“ wurde geboten. Leider war der Ausstellungsteil im Village geschlossen, nur die Verkaufsstände geöffnet. Anschließend ein Mittagessen schlechter Qualität zum Aufpreis von 25,-€ pP, welches 1 h in Anspruch nahm (man wurde gefragt, ob man das möchte aber eine Alternative gab es nicht). Danach direkter Rückweg. Hier bot der Reiseleiter halbherzig weitere Möglichkeiten an, riet aber zur Rückfahrt. Leider bekam man keinen Überblick von Abu Dhabi!”
