I 1516 inviterede Frans 1. af Frankrig Leonardo da Vinci til Amboise og tilbød ham Clos Lucé som hjem og et sted at arbejde. Han levede der i de tre sidste år i sit liv og døde der 2. maj 1519.
I dag tilbyder Clos Lucé sine besøgende en 7 hektar stor park og et renæssanceslot fra det 15. århundrede, der vidner om regionens prestigefyldte histore, og indeholder fyrre modeller af de maskiner, som Leonardo da Vinci byggede.
