Da Timanfayas seks lange år lange udbrud sluttede i 1736, troede landmændene i La Geria, at deres frugtbare jord for evigt var tabt under et tykt lag aske. Men de lokale familier var nødt til at gøre jorden produktiv igen, og gennem hårdt arbejde og beslutsomhed lykkedes det dem at skabe vinmarkerne i La Geria.

Vi starter med en malerisk gåtur og følger du stier gennem private vinmarker, der tilhører den familieejede bodega Nacho Romero, som udelukkende er åben for National Geographic-rejsende.

Mens du nyder de unikke kendetegn af disse landskaber, hvor vinmarkerne er omgivet af vulkaner, vil ejeren forklare, hvordan laget af vulkansk aske, lokalt kendt som "picón", har formet deres dyrkningsmetoder, som er unikke i verden. Enjoyed the trip, information was very informative. Wine tasting was excellent May was very good at answering our questions and informing us about the different wines, added a little extra with a taste of the smoked goats cheese beautiful.

Die Tour war echt gut. Aber warum wurden wir nicht an unserem Hotel abgeholt. Wir waren die einzigen Gäste aus Playa Blanca. Und mussten zu Fuß eine viertel Stunde zu einem anderen Hotel gehen. Die Guide war wirklich gut ?? präpariert und das Programm war wirklich exzellent.
