Lissabons Praça do Comércio (Handelsplads), der ligger på stedet for det tidligere kongelige slot, er byens centrale torv i dag. Med udsigt til Tejo-floden fra dens sydlige side er pladsen det kulturelle og kommercielle centrum af Lissabon. Lukket af på tre sider af dens karakteristiske gulmalede bygninger er der her en overflod af arkitektonisk skønhed at beundre herunder Rua Augusta-buen og rytterstatuen af Joseph I. Som tidligere havnedok for alle varer, der ankom i Lissabon, var dette sted virkeligt det travleste punkt i byen. Selv den ikke længere er en aktiv erhvervshavn, bevarer pladsen sin betydning i dag som ”døren” til Lissabon. Beliggende nær af alle de store centrale attraktioner i byen er en rundtur på Praça do Comércio en selvfølge enhver rejse til Lissabon!
